Lagos - Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka is launching a new political party in Nigeria ahead of the country's presidential election.
Soyinka attended an event in Lagos on Saturday announcing the platform of the Democartic Front for a People's Federation. The party claims to be a "zero resource" party, a jab at oil-rich Nigeria's culture of government graft and corruption.
However, the event saw a number of empty seats, a rarity in the politics of rented crowds in Africa's most populous nation.
Soyinka won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1986, Africa's first winner.
