Stadium roads to be closed

Johannesburg - Roads around Coca-Cola Park stadium will be closed from 13:00 on Thursday for the Confederations Cup match, Metro police said.

Senior Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said Stiemert and Sivewright roads would be closed. Beit, Miller and Upper Railway roads would also be closed to traffic.

Minnaar advised motorists to use the M1 and M2 highways to avoid the road closures.

The Joe Slovo off-ramp on the M2 would be blocked. Joe Slovo drive would be blocked off at Abel road and Saratoga avenue.

Taxis and buses would start operating from 16:00 and fans were advised to get to park-and-ride facilities early.

The roads would be reopened at around midnight, Minnaar said.
