Sudan bus crash kills 14
Khartoum - A faulty bus crashed in north Sudan's Nile state on Wednesday killing 14 people and injuring 27, the official SUNA news agency reported.
"Fourteen people were killed and 27 injured, 10 of them seriously, when their bus veered off the road near the area of Abu Dis," around 450km north of Khartoum, SUNA said.
The accident was attributed to a technical failure that caused the driver to lose control of the bus, which was travelling from the northern city of Abu Hamad to the capital, the report added.
Road accidents are common in Sudan, where authorities have banned buses and minibuses from some of the main roads at night in an effort to minimise collisions and casualties.
Last September, 37 people were killed and 26 injured in a head-on collision between two buses south of Khartoum.
