Team to probe delivery protests
Johannesburg - A task team will investigate recent violent service delivery protests in Mpumalanga and the North West, the SABC reported on Wednesday.
Batandwa Siswana, deputy director-general in the department of co-operative governance and traditional affairs revealed this move by Minister Sicelo Shiceka, the report said.
Siswana said: "We have a task team within the department, in the ministry in particular, that has been tasked to deal with issues of service delivery protests in Mpumalanga and the North West.
"The question we need to ask is why when there are public finances in front of us to deal with issues of delivery, why are people protesting?"
