Cape Town - A Ugandan law professor says the country is likely to have its own Robert Mugabe in ten year's time as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni "does not see life after the presidency", according to The Observer.

Professor Joe Oloka-Onyango said Museveni "would fight to stay in power at all costs" as the veteran leader "only sees life in the presidency".

"Ten years from now, we are likely to have a Mugabe in Uganda," Oloka-Onyango said, referring to Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe.

Oloka-Onyango said it was unfortunate that the next constitutional amendment would involve the removal of the age limit for presidential candidates to pave way for a "life presidency". Mugabe has led Zimbabwe for 33 years.

Museveni came into power in 1986 as an idealistic former Marxist rebel who denounced power-hungry African leaders. Today he is being criticised by those opposed to him of becoming the type of politician he once despised.
