Zambia accident kills 18
Lusaka - A bus and an oil tanker collided head-on in northern Zambia on Tuesday, leaving at least 18 people dead and 47 injured, police said.
"Eighteen people died on the spot while 47 others sustained serious injuries when a bus they were traveling in collided with a fuel tank at Matumbo in Chinsali district in the early hours of today," said police spokesperson Bonny Kapeso.
The bus was coming from Kitwe, north of the capital Lusaka, when it collided with the tanker, which was travelling from Nakonde.
"The condition of both drivers has not yet been known because both drivers have not yet been identified," Kapeso said.
