President Uhuru Kenyatta Tuesday presided over the passing out parade of 1,976 GSU recruits. Here are the photos

Nairobi - A former Kenyan policeman was among two men arrested while attempting to sneak suspicious material into a police training college in Embakasi, Nairobi, during the passing out parade of 1 976 officers.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, however, has since indicated that the two were not terrorists and that the gadgets they were carrying were harmless.

They were arrested by the Anti-terror Police Unit (ATPU) at the main gate of the college after they were found with a gadget said to be capable of making an explosive material.

The incident happened shortly after President Uhuru Kenyatta's arrival.

Following the threat, Daily Nation reports, an alert was issued barring entry of any unauthorised vehicles and pedestrians into the venue.

It has been established that the materials they were carrying were actually a motherboard and transistor radio that were on their way to a technician for repair, Standard reports.

The two will be freed soon, Boinett said .
