Nairobi - A family in Nakuru County, Kenya, is grieving after learning via Facebook that their son, who was to graduate from university this year, had been murdered.

Shukri Mohammed, who had just completed his studies in Business Management Purchasing and Supplies at the Moi University, had gone missing on April 4.

Standard reports that the mutilated body of Mohammed was found dumped in a river at Ol Donyo Sabuk in Thika County on April 8, but the family did not know until the news went viral on Facebook.

The deceased boy's brother, Hussein Mohammed, said he got the news from his Facebook friends after his body had already been taken to city mortuary.

According to his mother, 24-year-old Mohammed left home after receiving a call from a friend who requested to meet him in Nakuru, but he never returned.

In a video by KTN News, the family said Mohammed's eyes had been gouged out, his tongue cut off, and his hands and legs had been tied with a rope.
