Nairobi - Police in Meru County, Kenya, are looking for a man who kidnapped and killed his estranged wife before dumping her body at her parents' home.

The woman had been living with her parents after the two separated following a domestic dispute.

Her relatives said the husband bundled her and their 3-year-old son into a car and sped off towards Meru Town, according to CitizenTV.

The husband allegedly later dumped his wife's lifeless body outside her parents' home and disappeared.

The child's whereabouts still remained unknown, but police suspected the boy could have also been murdered.

Statistics indicate that 45% of women between the ages 15 and 49 in Kenya have experienced either physical or sexual violence, accounting for 90% of the gender based violence (GBV) cases reported.

Culture, financial insecurity and drugs have been cited as the factors that promote violence against women.
