Nairobi - A tweet by Pope Francis on Wednesday sparked interesting speculation among Kenyans on social media.

The pope tweeted: "The Jubilee is the party to which Jesus invites us all, without excluding anyone."

Some, however, jokingly took the tweet as an endorsement of President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee party.

It (Jubilee party) was the vessel through which the Kenyan president would seek re-election in the country's 2017 general elections.

According to Nairobi News, the tweet drew lots of comparisons with the president, but on the other hand, gave a tongue in cheek reference to the singular meaning of the Twitter-savvy head of the Roman Catholic Church.

Pope Francis visited Kenya in November 2015.

In the doctrine of the Catholic Church, a Jubilee year was a special year called by the Church to receive blessing and pardon from God and remission of sins.

But as Kenyans.co.ke reported, the fact that the Pope did not mean the Kenyan Jubilee Party, did not stop social media from jumping on it.

Some made references to the fact that the president was the chosen one, while others felt the need to drag opposition leader Raila Odinga into the mix, telling him to join the president's party.
