Accra – Defeated Ghanaian President John Mahama has posted on social media a letter written by his daughter, Farida, consoling him after he lost in the west African country's recent presidential elections.

The letter contained words of comfort and praise for the "hard work" that Mahama put into "nurturing" the country.

"Daddy has worked so hard to change lives and transform Ghana," read part of the letter.

See the letter below.

John Mahama conceded defeat last week after a hotly contested election, which was seen as a test for a country generally viewed as a beacon of stability in west Africa.

Mahama called to congratulate opposition leader Nana Akufo-Addo.

Akufo-Addo won the presidential election with 53% of votes cast.

Thank you Farida ?
