'Great man' Mugabe given Gaddafi gown
Cape Town - A Kenyan traditional leader has described Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe as a "great man", before presenting him with a gown he said had once belonged to the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, the Daily News reported on Friday.
"We saw it fit to give this gown to President Mugabe which was given to us by Gaddafi before his death. We saw it fit to give it to Mugabe because he stands for Africans. Mugabe stands for African leaders and the rights of Africans as a whole.
"Gaddafi was a great African leader who wanted to have the United States of Africa," said Paul Kamlesh, national chairperson of the house of traditional leaders in Kenya
"As elders of Africa, we are now looking upon on Mugabe to lead us," Kamlesh said after presenting Mugabe with the gown during the official opening of the annual chief’s conference in Bulawayo.
According to the report, the chiefs’ conference gave Mugabe a platform to attack his Western enemies.
"Europeans killed Gaddafi, a man who had invested heavily in their economies and had become their friend," Mugabe said.
