'Honour Mugabe's birthday with 89mins'

Zimbabwe's Zanu-PF party is mulling over a special congress at which top vacant positions will be filled and the succession of President Robert Mugabe would be decided, according to a report.
Cape Town – President Robert Mugabe’s Zanu-PF party has urged
Zimbabweans to dedicate 89 minutes to engage in social programmes that help
others as a tribute to mark the veteran leader’s 89th birthday.
Mugabe's birthday falls on February 21.
According to state owned Herald online, Zanu-PF Secretary for
Youth Affairs, Absolom Sikhosana said the idea was conceived to recognise the
good that president Mugabe was doing for the country.
"We have a very good role model in the person of the
president and we should all emulate this great son of the soil in terms of our
love for people and our preparedness to suffer and sacrifice in the service of
our people," he said.
"All Zimbabweans should embrace this philosophy and work
together for the upliftment of the country and the quality of lives for the
generality of Zimbabweans."
Sikhosana said the dedication should be a national event to
take place between 13:00 and 14:29. He said "those who could not perform their
good deeds at the suggested time could still do so at a time of their
convenience".
Sikhosana said people could engage in activities like
assisting or donating to schools, hospitals, orphanages and old people’s homes,
street cleaning, tree planting or any other activity beneficial to society.
A public rally to celebrate Mugabe's birthday is set to be held
at a stadium in the mining town of Bindura on March 2.
