Cape Town – A 38-year-old Zimbabwean university lecturer has been fired after he allegedly insulted President Robert Mugabe twice, a report says.

In a statement, the Great Zimbabwe University said Chenjerai Pamhiri's contract had been terminated, said The Standard.

The report said Pamhiri was earlier this month arrested after allegedly labelling Mugabe an "impotent wife snatcher" at a bar in Mashava.

In May this year, Pamhiri was sentenced to three months in prison after calling Mugabe "a dirty, rotten old donkey".

He appealed against both the sentence and conviction.
