Zimbabwe bus crash kills 21

2012-04-16 14:02

Harare - At least 21 people were killed on Monday when a speeding bus overturned in southern Zimbabwe, state radio reported.

The bus had been travelling towards Beitbridge, a town on the border with South Africa, when the accident happened around 2:00 am.

The radio quoted witnesses as saying that the driver, who died at the scene of the crash, had been speeding and failed to negotiate a curve.

Accidents are common in Zimbabwe because of roads which have been neglected for years and are riddled with crater-like potholes.

    Sorry

Yip! Its very sad and unfair. Its also not just the roads that are a problem. Most buses are at least 30 years old! The chassis are mostly bent so its not a surprise. The driver probably fell asleep too.

Accidents happen in Zimbabwe like in any other country in Africa and the world. That they happen because of roads which have been neglected for years and riddled with crater-like potholes is an absolute lie. Accidents happen everywhere, even in South Africa where there are state-of-the-art highways and and lots of new vehicles. The fact that this accident happened at night at about 2:00am should be sufficient grounds to suspect that the driver was either sleeping on the wheel, drunk, inexperienced, unqualified or as reported, failed to negotiate a sharp corner because of speeding. What's wrong with you sensational journalists? Who do you want to impress for sure? Do you get funded or paid monthly for reporting outright lies? Report accurately and let us make our own judgments instead of spoon feeding us with half baked jugdements which make your reporting unpalatable and repulsive. Some of your readers know Zimbabwe and its roads and lying won't earn you any marks at all.

Shepherd, who said he's seeking refuge? Economic migrant perhaps. If I were you, I'd spend more time learning how to structure English statements than bashing Zimbabweans. Its sad that all you picked from this tragedy is that Mfudzi is from Zimbabwe. I'd say before lecturing others on how to "think like a human being", learn how to think!

I think you said it well there Mufudzi. I always wondered why that last paragraph is always pasted on every article on Zim Road Accidents. News24 would do us all good if they could remove that last paragraph because while the idea is to whip up all manner of anger towards Mugabe all you do is take away the human loss in these articles. @Sheppered not all Cats in the gutter were born there and not all Cats born in the Gutter stay there. Or have completely lost you now?

Brilliant u are not so brilliant after all. For u to even suggest this tragic accident has anythin to do with mugabe or zanu pf shows how shallow, thick and overly stupid u are. was mugabe drivin the bus? Or did zanu pf call the driver to tell him to crash the bus. U are a true low life without purpose in life.
