Mutare - A Zimbabwean man has been jailed after beating his girlfriend with a cooking stick for refusing to have unprotected sex with him, reports New Zimbabwe.

Witness Chibuwe, 26, pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to two months behind bars, or or a fine of $100.

Pleading for leniency, Chibuwe told the court that he had erred by beating his girlfriend, Sashar Salowa, who had refused to have unprotected sex with him.

According to the prosecutor, on April 7 Chibuwe demanded to have unprotected sex with his girlfriend Salowa, who refused.

This angered Chibuwe, who then took a cooking stick and started beating her all over the body, inflicting injuries on her back and hands.

Salowa reported the attack to the police, leading to Chibuwe’s arrest.

Chibuwe was charged with contravening section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act as read with section 3(1)(a), according to Daily News
