I won't protect corrupt officials, says Mugabe

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has said that he won't be protecting any government officials accused of corruption, adding that those accused of graft must, however, be given a chance to answer for their crimes in a court of law, reports say.

Zimbabwe - Proud Zimbabweans are celebrating the Hello success of one of their own singers, Taps Mugadza, whose cover version of Adele's hit has had more than 1.2 million views on YouTube.

Singer Mugadza's powerful version of Hello has won international acclaim, with US channel E! listing it as number three out of the best 20 cover versions of the single earlier this week.

"Our very own Tapiwa ‘Taps’ has written his own piece of history," wrote Zimbabwe entertainment website, Zimbuzz.

Mugadza was abandoned at an orphanage in Zimbabwe when very young. He came to fame when he competed in a talent contest at age 15.

Mugadza wrote on Facebook that he felt like "the luckiest person [in] ... the world", in a post liked and shared by hundreds of locals.

"We actually did it people... We really did it... My first million views. This will be a day I remember. I could of never done this without all of you. God bless you all [sic]," he said.
