Glasgow Commonwealth Games triple jump champion Khotso Mokoena headlines a team of 12 South Africans that will represent the continent at the IAAF Continental Cup in Marrakech, Morocco next month.

The team was selected by the Confederation of African Athletics.

Mokoena, who is the African triple champion and long jump silver medallist, features prominently among Team SA’s 10 newly-crowned African champions from the recently concluded African Senior Athletics Championships that also took place in Marrakech.

SA 400m record holder Wayde van Niekerk and hammer thrower Chris Harmse made the team by virtue of being the best runners up at the Morocco track and field championships.

The Continental Cup – to be run on September 13 and 14 - pits Africa, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Americas in track and field events.

Here are the South Africans in Team Africa for the Continental Cup:

Khotso Mokoena (triple jump), Zarck Visser (long), Cornel Fredericks (400m hurdles), Wayde van Niekerk (400m), Orazio Cremona (shot put), Chris Harmse (hammer throw), Rikenette Steenkamp (100m hurdles), Wenda Nel (400m hurdles), Ruan de Vries (110m hurdles), Cheyne Rahme (pole vault), Victor Hogan (discus) and Sunette Viljoen (javelin)
