#Trending rounds up the best and worst in pop culture this year

Twars of the year: Chester Missing

This year the Twitter war proved to be as riveting as always.

We are pleased to announce that comic puppet Chester Missing emerged as the king of the SA twar, taking on Steve Hofmeyr, Helen Zille and Sizwe Dhlomo.

A special mention must be made of Sports and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula who most notably twarred with Sentletse Diakanyo and Nomboniso Gasa to whom he once tweeted in exasperation: “Khandiyeke sisi” (Leave me alone, sister.) – Gugulethu Mhlungu

YouTuber of the year: Suzelle DIY

Suzelle DIY

Hilarious YouTubes abounded this year with Mdu Comics’ Noko vs Izikhothane being the most-clicked and The White Folks making us laugh out loud.

But we loved Suzelle the most.

The local YouTuber does clever DIY projects with her hilarious videos. Her best friend, Mariaan, has been a surprise standout in the series. – Grethe Koen
