Glitz and glamour are staples in TV presenter Penny Lebyane’s world, but it’s downtime with her kids she treasures most.

If you think this mother of two is overloaded, think again.

On top of her hectic schedule as the sassy presenter on SABC2’s Motswako, Penny Lebyane might be starring in a reality show in the near future, too. Despite all the excitement in her professional life, she says her most important role is motherhood.

‘My kids are so different from each other,’ she says. ‘My son, Takunda Naka, seven, is very composed and orderly. He likes building stuff and I always say he’s going to be an engineer. My daughter, Takuma Naka, four, is creative and likes to dance, sing and draw.’

The devoted mom adds that the one activity they all enjoy is building puzzles.

‘It’s a way for them to improve their maths skills and also show their creativity.’

Outside of puzzle time, Penny’s kids still play some of the games she enjoyed as a child. ‘I loved mgusha (elastic game), hide and seek and touch.’

The single mother says she couldn’t manage her hectic schedule without her extended support system, which includes family members and interns.

‘I have a lot of help. My brother Neo lives with us and often picks up the kids from school, and my parents are always willing to take the kids when I’m out of town on business.’

Her sister Brenda, who has a daughter the same age as Takunda, also helps where she can.

While Penny spends as much time as possible creating precious memories with her kids, she is still making major moves on the entertainment scene.

‘I can’t say much about my upcoming project, but I will say that people must watch out for it!’ she laughs.
