ANC announces Limpopo task team

2013-03-25 09:15

A team of lesser-known people will lead the ANC’s Limpopo Provincial Task Team.

The team was announced yesterday, following a Provincial General Council at the University of Limpopo.

It will fill the shoes of the Provincial Executive Council, which was disbanded last week.

The team consists of chairperson Philemon Mdaka, deputy chairperson Yvonne Mmakola, secretary Joyce Matshoge, deputy secretary Stan Motimele and treasurer Thembi Nwendamutsu.

Announcing the team, ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa said their task was “to bring stability and unite the province ahead of the elections next year. They will spend time meeting ANC structures and interact on an ongoing basis with our membership. They will restore the image of the ANC in the eyes and minds of our people in the province.”

The team, he said, would work with the ANC National Executive Committee deployees to the province, who include ministers Thulas Nxesi, Blade Nzimande and Nathi Mthethwa, as well as Billy Masetlha, Ruth Bhengu, Thoko Didiza and Sankie Mthembi-Mahanyele.

Mdaka said he would do his job to the best of his ability.

“It’s going to be a tough job, but, with his team, we will make it. They are all skilled and experienced cadres of the struggle.”

The task team has 15 additional members.
