ANC faction heads for court again

2012-08-21 09:19

The Regime Change Group, a faction of the ANC in the Free State, has again filed their papers at the Bloemfontein High Court.

The group, which opposes Free State Premier Ace Magashule, asks in court documents for the provincial conference of the ANC to be nullified.

It also asks for an interim order that would stop the newly elected provincial executive leadership from performing their duties until judgment has been delivered in the case.

This is the second time the group has approached the high court.

It first applied for an urgent interdict to have the conference nullified.

The application was, however, struck off the roll after Judge BC Mocumie found that the application was not urgent.

City Press has reported that the Regime Change Group has been asking for donations to pay for their legal costs.

Mpho Ramakatsa, spokesperson for the applicants in the court case, said the reaction to their plea for donations has been very good.

But, he said, the group hopes to continue receiving donations to pay its legal bills.

The Regime Change Group has appointed Dali Mpofu, former CEO of the SABC, as its legal representative.
