ANC vs ANC a class action – lawyer

2012-10-11 14:11

The court application that seeks to dissolve the Free State ANC’s executive committee is a class action, Advocate Dali Mpofu has said.

Mpofu, who represents six disgruntled ANC members who had brought the application, said it was a class action as 5 000 people have listed themselves as having an interest in the matter.

The application seeks to have the party’s provincial executive committee dissolved and the provincial conference nullified.

Mpofu today accused the respondents, which include the provincial leadership, of employing delaying tactics and ignoring a court order stating that answering affidavits should be filed within 15 days.

The case was postponed on September 27 to allow the respondents to file these papers.

Two large groups of protesters gathered in front of the court house today. One supports the applicants and the other supports the provincial leadership.
