Every family has its challenges, but the ANC hopes the Mandela family can resolve its problems soon, ANC chairperson in the North West, Supra Mahumapelo, has said.

Mahumapelo visited the hospital yesterday, along with members of the party’s PEC.

“We came here to deliver a message on behalf of the members of the ANC in the province, to give a message to our grandfather, father, elderly statesman and revolutionary leader of the ANC for him to get well soon,” said Mahumapelo.

The ANC wanted the dispute in the Mandela family to end soon, he said.

“We hope as the leadership of the ANC the discussions currently taking place between the leadership of the ANC and the Mandela family will make sure that some of the issues will be resolved amicably.

“Every family has its own challenges which are normally discussed behind the scenes. It is just unfortunate that the Mandela family, because of his role in politics, is a well-known family.

“We are confident that it can be resolved quickly ...” said Mahumapelo.

Not many family members visited the hospital yesterday.

Mandela’s granddaughter, Tukwini, was seen at the hospital while his wife, Graca Machel, was seen leaving it.
