ANC welcomes Limpopo’s new leadership

2013-07-20 11:22

The recent Limpopo Cabinet reshuffle indicates that government strives to deliver a people-orientated government in the province, the African National Congress has said.

The provincial task team (PTT) brought change in certain areas, although there were more challenges that overshadowed their successes to date, the ANC in Limpopo said today in a statement.

“We are acutely aware that these challenges have led to a loss of confidence in the administration among the electorate,” said PTT spokesperson Joyce Matshoge.

The ANC Youth League said the reshuffle was a necessary step in “re-engineering the ANC’s machinery”.

“... The youth league believes that the new members of the executive committee understands the task that lies ahead,” said spokesperson Bandile Masuku.

Newly appointed Limpopo Premier Stanley Mathabatha reshuffled his executive council yesterday, a day after he was sworn in.

Mathabatha succeeded Mathale, who resigned on Monday after being “recalled” by the ANC.

Mathabatha told reporters in Polokwane the new executive would “deliver”.

He said the new executive would commit itself to restoring confidence and trust in the provincial government so that national government could consider rescinding the decision to put five departments under administration.
