ANCYL faces liquidation claim

2013-06-05 08:58

The ANC Youth League is set to face a liquidation claim in the high court in Johannesburg today.

The R15 million claim by an unpaid contractor dated back to the ANCYL national congress in Mangaung in the Free State in 2008 when Julius Malema was elected leader.

The liquidation application would be brought by Z2 Presentations CC, which trades as University Events Management.

“The application has its origin from a judgment in the Free State High Court against the ANCYL in 2008, on which the current outstanding amount, interest included, is over R15 million,” said University Events Management lawyer Marius van Rensburg.

“The application is opposed and will be argued in court.”

The Star said the sheriff twice tried to seize youth league assets to pay off the debt, but there were no assets.
