#ANCpolicy: State of play in the provinces – KwaZulu-Natal

2012-06-26 06:49

This is the biggest province at the conference and it is almost united in favour of President Jacob Zuma.

KwaZulu-Natal is the most influential province in terms of numbers and will be the engine that drives support for policies favoured by Zuma.

As such, the province is more moderate, supporting government positions such as the youth wage subsidy and a stricter stance on striking teachers.

Like all the other provinces it agrees that the willing-seller-willing-buyer principle doesn’t work to promote land reform, and it also rejects nationalisation, in line with the findings of an ANC research group.
