AU assassination plot? Spy cables promise more revelations

2015-02-24 13:15

Al Jazeera is promising further revelations from its tranche of spy cables, including an assassination plot involving an African Union leader.

The network has already published previously top secret information that involves South Africa.

The cables expose operational secrets from across the world, dating from 2006 till December last year.

“They include... an assassination plot targeting an African Union leader,” the news network said in this clip.

Former South African state security minister Ronnie Kasrils said: “Governments and presidents, ministers use the intelligence services for their own political purposes which can also have it play the other way where the agencies manipulate the politicians for their own agendas.”
