Acting CEO appointed for heritage sites

2011-11-28 10:49

Dawn Robertson has been appointed acting CEO of the Cradle of Humankind world heritage site and the Dinokeng project.

“Robertson has been tasked by ... (Gauteng) economic development MEC Qedani Mahlangu with managing both of these tourism projects,” a spokesperson for the two heritage sites, Adrian Amod, said in a statement today.

The appointment came after the resignation of former CEO Fana Jiyane.

Robertson currently heads the Gauteng Tourism Authority and has worked in various departments in both local and provincial government, including arts, culture and tourism.

In 2006 Robertson was appointed head of the Gauteng sport, arts, culture and recreation department.

“I am really excited about this new challenge. Working with two such iconic brands is going to be great fun and I look forward to gaining more experience in the tourism and heritage industries,” Robertson said in the statement.

“I have had a very warm welcome from both the Cradle of Humankind and the Dinokeng teams, and I look forward to working with both of these projects to raise the profiles of both destinations.”
