An alleged serial rapist linked to eight cases of rape and 12 of kidnapping was arrested at the Westgate Shopping Mall.

The 32-year-old man, arrested yesterday, allegedly picked up woman waiting for taxis in the Roodepoort and Florida vicinity, said Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.

“After boarding the taxi, victims will be sprayed with something in their faces to blind them. They will then be raped while the taxi is in motion,” said Dlamini.

“Some victims were kidnapped and later robbed before being pushed out of the minibus (taxi).”

It is believed that the alleged rapist was operating with another man and some women.

Dlamini said they were searching for the others.

The arrested man would appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Monday.
