Allow workers to vote, says ANC

2011-05-11 10:55

Employers at businesses that won’t close on May 18 must arrange to let their workers vote in next week’s local government elections, the ANC said today.

“All registered voters should be allowed to cast their votes and are entitled to [the] full support of their employers in this endeavour,” spokesperson Jackson Mthembu said.

Denying them this opportunity would undermine the integrity of local government.

“If the workers have to be at work for whatever reason, arrangements must be made to release them to go and cast their vote and return to work to perform their duties.”
