Note to self: get a GPS and always adhere to the dress code.

The Munroe Boutique in Houghton Estate, Joburg, was transformed into a fairytale palace for a girl’s all-white party and I was the step sister who had been sent to the shops.

In the real world, the party was Marie Claire’s Giorgio Armani Acqua for Life.

There was blinding white everywhere, except for a few people.

The cast of 7de Laan came out in numbers and looked the part, except for it’s newest member, Masego Sehoole. She was wearing what looked like a pre-school graduation dress - frills, layers and cream with a bow. Wow!

Her co-star, Salamina Mosese, chose a floral white dress, while Mimi Mahlasela came looking like a yummy red velvet cupcake. Fascinator ambassador by force Jen Su was also there and without one. Amen.

TV personality Zuraida Jardine, who is making a social comeback, looked like a dream in her alluring dress and wore earrings I had to ask about. “They are from Bloemfontein designer Kristall Mantwa,” she gushed.

Vuzu’s Dineo Moeketsi was surprisingly on time and her bosom buddy Boitumelo Thulo was engrossed in a conversation with singer Chad Saaiman.

I spotted Gert-Johan Coetzee with his signature black tasselled bag and croissant coiffure. Sigh.

Melanie and Zwai Bala were also there straining to hear the speakers over the guests’s loud conversations. How rude! Even when Zaki Ibrahim performed, folks were muttering away. We heard the bass, though.

The venue was quite crowded, from the pool area all the way inside where people were imbibing Grey Goose vodka drinks and white wine. No red was on offer, probably to avoid unsightly stains on the white.

I saw Pearl Thusi interviewing Lerato Kganyago and then Kganyago turns around and interviews Thusi for her own show on the same spot. No wonder Thusi gave me a side eye and shook her head.

Muvhango’s Themba Nofemele was introducing his girlfriend to everyone who cared to greet him. Ah, young love.

At the exit, goodie bags were handed out. I had to laugh at how some walked away with frowned faces while others had huge smiles. I would too if I received a magazine, biscuits and an Appletiser while some got perfume.
