Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt tied the knot on Saturday in Château Miraval, France.

A spokesperson for the couple says Jolie (39) and Pitt (50) wed on Saturday in a small chapel in a private ceremony attended by family and friends. In advance of the nondenominational civil ceremony, Pitt and Jolie also obtained a marriage licence from a local California judge. The judge also conducted the ceremony in France.

The couple’s children took part in the wedding. Jolie walked the aisle with her eldest sons Maddox and Pax. Zahara and Vivienne threw petals. Shiloh and Knox served as ring bearers, the spokesperson says.

The couple, who got together after filming Mr and Mrs Smith, were spotted arriving on a private jet at Nice airport on Friday, according to the Daily Mail.

The newly weds are preparing to start filming upcoming romantic drama By The Sea in Malta, and an on-set source has revealed they are going to get very intimate in front of the cameras.

According to Us Weekly, the new film, which is being written and directed by Jolie, will see the couple act out some steamy scenes just a short walk from where their family is staying on the picturesque Mediterranean island.

The couple will be filming the scenes in Mgarr ix-Xini Bay in Gozo, which is around 80km south of the Italian island of Sicily. The shoot is set to last around 10 weeks.

Pitt and Jolie announced their engagement in April 2013 following an eight-year relationship. At the time, they described it as a “promise for the future” and said they were very happy to be engaged.
