Another SABC soapie strike averted

2014-10-18 12:16

Muvhango’s actors have been paid and the SABC 2 soapies’ stars won’t be walking off set.

The cast wasn’t paid for September and rumours flew that actors like Sindi Dlathu, Gabriel Temudzani and Brian Temba would follow the example set by 16 of their Generations colleagues and go on strike.

But the SABC, which vowed to settle its debt by yesterday kept its promise.

Muvhango’s head of PR, Kgalema Mametse, told City Press the “matter has been resolved”.

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said the broadcaster had paid the production house behind Muvhango.

Two actors, who asked not to be named, confirmed that their September salaries had been deposited yesterday.
