Assaulted baby getting better

One-year-old Marzaan Kruger’s condition was improving, a

spokeswoman for the Sandton Medi-Clinic said.

Liezl Furlong, spokesperson for the Sandton Medi-Clinic, said the

girl was taken off the ventilator machine this morning.

“It is a clear sign of improvement,” she said.

“It means the machine is not breathing for her anymore.”

Marzaan and her minder, Francina Sekhu, were brutally assaulted in

an alleged house robbery at the Kruger family home in Randburg last Thursday.

The girl suffered serious head wounds and was kept under

sedation.

Sekhu also suffered head injuries. Beeld

reported that she was recovering well and had started to remember what

happened on the day of the attack.

It was not known when she would be discharged.

Two men, Nelson Maphosa (28) and Gerald Nyantumbo (25) were

arrested and appeared in court on charges of attempted murder and robbery with

aggravated circumstances earlier this week.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said today the

main suspect, a Mozambican citizen known as Chakhoma Machaba (28) was still on

the run.
