Australia to play Bafana in World Cup sendoff

2014-03-03 08:24

Sydney – Australia will play South Africa in Sydney in their World Cup farewell game before departing for Brazil.

The match would be staged in Sydney on May 26 before the team flies out to Brazil, Football Federation Australia said today.

Bafana Bafana, who face Brazil in a friendly in Johannesburg this week, failed to qualify for this year’s World Cup after hosting the showpiece event in 2010.

Football Federation Australia also confirmed that the Socceroos will play a warm-up match in Brazil against Croatia on June 6 before their opening World Cup match against Chile seven days later.
