Bafana arrive in Zim

2011-11-14 07:33

Bafana Bafana arrived in Zimbabwe yesterday for their international friendly match that will take place tomorrow in Harare.

This encounter comes just three days after South Africa held Cote d’Ivoire, the highest-ranked side in Africa, to a one-all draw in Port Elizabeth.

In that match George Maluleka of Ajax Cape Town, Siyabonga Nontshinga of Jomo Cosmos and George Lebese of Kaizer Chiefs made their first appearance for the national team.

Defenders Musa Bilankulu of Lamontville Golden Arrows, Punch Masenamela of Mamelodi Sundowns and striker Bradley Grobler who plays in Turkey are the only uncapped players in the current 18-man squad.

In Zimbabwe, Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane will be playing a different team to the one that faced The Elephants after he left out nine regulars who were in the starting line-up.

Those who did not make the trip are captain Steven Pienaar, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Tsepo Masilela, Kagisho Dikgacoi, Anele Ngcongca, Siboniso Gaxa, Katlego Mphela, Siyabonga Sangweni and Reneilwe Letsholonyane.

Also not on the flight to Harare was the injured Granwald Scott.

Bafana Bafana will hold their only training session at the match venue (Rufaro Stadium) today.

The match will be played an hour later than initially scheduled, kicking off at 8pm.
