Bafana break into CAF top 10

2013-05-09 12:12

Bafana Bafana have climbed two places to number nine and broken into the top 10 for the first time this year on the CAF rankings in the latest Fifa rankings released today.

Gordon Igesund’s team is 56th in the world rankings, an improvement from last month’s 62nd position.

Bafana will play two back-to-back World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic and Ethiopia next month.

Ivory Coast is still perched at the top of the African standings, followed by Ghana, Mali and Africa Cup of Nations champions Nigeria.

Reigning world and European champions Spain is still leading the pack, followed by Germany and Argentina.

Surprisingly, five-time world champions Brazil are languishing in 19th spot.
