Banyana prepare for Namibia

2011-03-16 10:59

The senior national women’s soccer team are preparing to take on Namibia in an international friendly at the Danie Kuys Stadium in Upington on Saturday.

Owing to the sweltering heat often experienced in Upington, the match is set for a 5pm kickoff.

The fixture forms part of Banyana Banyana’s build-up towards hosting Tunisia in an Olympic Games qualifier in Durban on April 2, before playing the return leg against the North African side in Tunisia two weeks later.

The stadium gates will open at 1pm on match day, with entrance free to fans in possession of match tickets obtainable in Upington tomorrow.

The day’s programme will include a match between the Northern Cape Invitation A stream and the Northern Cape Invitation B stream at 2pm.

From this match, the Banyana Banyana coaches will look to identify talent to increase the pool of players available for possible future call-ups to national camps.
