Hollywood stars Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler frolicked with elephants and lion cubs between film shoots at the Sun City resort this week.

The two film stars, who famously collaborated on the movies The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates, are in South Africa to film their much-anticipated silver screen reunion, a romantic comedy called Blended, over two months.

Filming will take place at various locations, including the resort’s animal park, and the Palace of the Lost City’s pool terrace and Crystal Court restaurant until July 3.

Despite his understated grey hoodie and corduroy pants, Sandler drew glances while exiting the Palace last Saturday. City Press’ managing editor, Gayle Edmunds, spotted the actor. “He was very friendly and very handsome, more so in real life than in his films,” she said.

Sandler (46) and Barrymore (38) portray single parents in Blended. They end up stuck at a family resort with their kids from previous marriages after a lousy first date.

Teen star Bella Thorne, best known for her role as CeCe Jones in Disney Channel’s Shake it Up, plays Barrymore’s daughter.

Thorne diligently chronicled her African adventure online, posting pictures of herself cuddling lion cubs, holding a baby crocodile and twirling in a friend’s arms at Cape Point on Instagram.

On June 8 she tweeted: “Cape Town is stunning. #GreatFood #GoodShopping #BeautifulViews.”

Barrymore also slipped into Cape Town during a break from filming.

The actress prompted gasps when she unrolled her yoga mat next to 25 others in the city at the end of last month. She stretched and sweated during a 90-minute “hot yoga class” at the popular Hot Dog Yoga Studio in Sea Point.

Manager Alison Sterne said: “Drew was very, very nice. Exactly as one would imagine her to be.”
