Big Brother is back

2011-04-30 17:37

Big Brother Amplified will invade households across the continent tonight.

The fifth season of the reality show will feature a funky new house with 120 microphones and 54 cameras, including brand new “cue-ball” cameras.

The house, always a hot topic, has been described as bright, bold and brand new. According to M-NetAfrica: “It is a celebration of colour, with vivid oranges, fresh greens and cheerful pinks complementing funky purple, sunshine yellow and cool blue. Fusing retro hip style with more modern contoured shapes, the house is playful, artistic and eclectic. It’s a showcase for pop culture.”

Contestants come from countries across the continent, including Tanzania, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Malawi.

In total 14 participants – most of them involved in the entertainment industry – will compete for 91 days for $250 000 (about R1.6 million).

Hip-hop artist Busta Rhymes will kickstart the Big Brother Amplified celebrations at the the launch party today, followed by the after-party at Zar in Sandton.
