A metro police vehicle has knocked over and killed a boy in Pretoria.

Captain Reineth Motlana confirmed today they were investigating a case of culpable homicide following the accident in the north of Pretoria on Friday.

“I cannot comment any further as the case is still under investigation,” she said.

According to the Beeld newspaper, 17-year-old Rudi Lettau was riding his bicycle on Brits Road when the unmarked metro police vehicle hit his bicycle.

Lettau, who was the deputy head boy of Hoërskool Pretoria-Noord, suffered critical head and leg injuries.

He died on the scene.
