Bucs urged to be cautious

Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi has warned his teammates not to underestimate United FC ahead of their Nedbank Cup match.

Absa Premiership title-chasing Bucs face the National First Division (NFD) strugglers in the Last 16 of the R6 million competition at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday night. Kick off is at 8.15pm.

“They (United) are not entirely a closed book to us,” cautioned Lekgwathi during their build up session at Johannesburg today.

“Their team has players with PSL experience and this includes our former teammate Thembile Kanono. They also have Junior Khanye (ex-Kaizer Chiefs) and Lungisani Ndlela (ex-Moroka Swallows) who will try to prove that they could still play in the PSL.”

The tournament, which pits the 16 PSL clubs against eight NFD and eight Safa teams, is famous for its upsets and Lekgwathi warned his teammates of this.

This week, the Buccaneers welcome back to the team defender Robyn Johannes, who was nursing an injury.

However, another defender Happy Jele is out of the reckoning thanks to his suspension.

In another Nedbank Cup fixture on Saturday, Vasco da Gama will travel to Rustenburg for a date with Platinum Stars at Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.

The game kicks off at 3pm.
