Three hot spots in Cape Town exploded into party mode last night as the city prepared to host its biggest horseracing social event, the J&B Met, which takes place today.

The epicentre of the celebrations was Shimmy Beach near the V&A Waterfront, where celebrities flooded the dance floor until the early hours of this morning.

DJ Naves was a crowd pleaser with a selection of hits from Beyoncé and Rihanna, and some hip-hop stars.

TV personality Bonang Matheba, in a white mesh dress, arrived accompanied by celebrity choreographer Somizi Mhlongo and celebrity make-up artist Nthato Mashishi.

Boity Thulo, the popular TV presenter and fitness model, enjoyed admiring stares in hot pants that showed off her toned body – all thanks to her new deal with a fitness supplements company.

Controversial ANC heavyweight Tony Yengeni, in a white T-shirt and black baseball cap, enjoyed some quiet moments with a female companion on the less populated side of the venue.

Cape Town’s socialites as well as Gauteng personalities are expected to strut their stuff today as they compete for attention and to be declared the best dressed at the event.
