South Africa will pin its hopes on a first gold medal in swimming after Team SA picked up two bronze medals on the opening day of the Commonwealth Games under way in Glasgow, Scotland.

Star swimmers Chad le Clos and Roland Schoeman will take to the pool in the men’s 50m butterfly final tonight (8pm, SA time).

The two will try and follow in the wake of Richard Murray, who won the team’s very first podium finish in the men’s triathlon individual event yesterday, while Siyabulela Mabulu finished third in the 66kg category of the men’s judo.

Team SA will be in action across nine codes today with 10 medal events to look forward to.
