Chimurenga Chronic goes graphic

2014-07-20 15:00

Chimurenga’s ever-fabulous pan-African gazette, Chronic, has gone graphic with a focus on African graphic stories.

The latest edition celebrates African comic journalism, and how it’s been able to reflect and comment on whatever time and place Africa has found itself in.

Blending illustrations, photography, written analysis, infographics, interviews, letters and more, visual narratives have always been highly political and sometimes radical in their storytelling and commentary.

Chronic also features a special eight-page insert: Hei Voetsek! The Lost Issue circa 2005, Mugabe as Captain America, Michael Jackson in Nigeria, and more.

Produced in Cape Town, Harare, Joburg, Nairobi, Lagos, London, Douala, Dakar, Accra, Kigali and Kolkata, and distributed globally, Chronic says it “seeks to write Africa in the present and into the world at large, as the place in which we live, love and work.”
