City Press staffer scarred for life in robbery

2010-05-18 15:24

Mohau Mokoena, the City Press subeditor who was shot in the leg

during a robbery at Campus Square yesterday, is likely to carry a piece of the

bullet with her for the rest of her life.

“It would be more of a mission for them to get it out than to leave

it in,” she said.

Mokoena was shot in the right thigh during the incident, which

occurred at about 10am yesterday.

She was in a Clicks store at the time, as was

an unidentified man who was also shot in the leg.

Earlier today, warrant officer Lorraine van Emmerick said there

were no updates on the investigation.

Van Emmerick told Sapa yesterday: “The two suspects entered a

jewellery store and robbed it of jewellery on display.

"They then went into the

Clicks and robbed it of an undisclosed amount of money. While fleeing from

Campus Square, they just shot randomly at bystanders.

"Our guys were not there,

so there was no one to threaten them. They just shot randomly.”
