Communications DG to ‘challenge dismissal’

2010-07-26 07:47

The axed director-general in the communications department, Mamodupi Mohlala, was planning to challenge her dismissal, Business Day reported today.

Mohlala said: “There is no settlement. They dismissed me. And I will be challenging the dismissal.”

Ministry spokesperson Tiyani Rikhotso said that Mohlala had not informed the department of her intention to challenge the dismissal.

Rikhotso said: “No, we haven’t been informed of that.”

The department announced on Friday that Mohlala had been “released” from her duties.

Rikhotso said: “In the process of trying to find solutions to the challenges, it subsequently became apparent that trust between the minister (Siphiwe Nyanda) and the director general has broken down irretrievably.”
