2011-07-30 07:38

Eight men have been arrested in three provinces in connection with an ATM bombing in Rustenburg, North West police said yesterday.

They were arrested on Thursday night in Mpumalanga, Gauteng and Rustenburg, police spokesperson Lesego Metsi said.

They allegedly bombed an ATM at a shopping complex in Tlhabane, Rustenburg, on May 20.

Afterwards, police found their getaway car abandoned nearby.

Metsi said two of the men arrested had been traced through fingerprints found in the car.

A firearm allegedly used in the crime, was found in the possession of one of the other men arrested.

The eight would appear in the Tlhabane Magistrates Court on Monday on charges of illegal possession of firearms and explosives, and charges relating to the ATM bombing.
