2014-12-31 15:24

It’s all happening on radio and TV tonight for those who prefer to spend their New Year’s Eve away from the crowds.

TV land is filled with music-based shows featuring some of the best videos, celebrities and events happening at South Africa’s entertainment venues.

A prelude to the new year sees e.tv turn it up with a repeat broadcast of SA Hip Hop Awards 2014 at 9.35pm.

The heat gets turned up a notch higher with a live broadcast of uMgungundlovu Midmar Music Festival taking place in Howick, KwaZulu Natal.

The festival features a star-studded line-up of artists like Ringo Madlingozi, Malik, Naima K. The show, broadcast from 10.30pm to 12.30pm, will see viewers into the new year.

MTV says goodbye to 2014 and hello to 2015 at 9.20pm. This event features DJs like Vigilante, MoFlava, Mac-G, Vin Deysel, Sizwe Dhlomo and many others.

Viewers can also tune in to MTV Base as they do the countdown with Nicki Minaj’s 20 biggest hits for 2014 at 6pm.

Vuzu’s V-Entertainment takes a look at the freshest local and international celebrity news, views and interviews at 10.30pm.

Channel O has new year’s eve Celebrity Bassment with back-to-back hits at 9pm where DJs mix it up with visual mixing technology, bringing you all of your favourite videos and 2014 smash hits.

Mzansi Magic also turns it up with Vinny’s House - a show that turns your living room into a club as the host and his DJ friends pack a mean dance-floor punch on the decks with deep house tunes.

Be sure to listen to your favourite radio station as they bring you the best hits of 2014 in anticipation of the song of the year.

On that front Ukhozi FM leads the way with over 6 million listeners tuning in to hear which song gets the record number of votes.
